Thomas “Tom” Michael Gray, Sr. Thomas “Tom” Michael Gray, Sr. of Danville, AR passed away on –Monday, October 3, 2022. He was born December 1, 1944, in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Thomas “Jack” Marion and Viola LaVerne (Gardner) Gray. They moved to Murfreesboro where Jack worked for the Core of Engineers at Narrows Dam and Tom attended school and was on the Rattlers Football team, and band, graduating in 1962, He continued his education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, first majoring in Music Education then Business Administration. He was also in the ROTC program. On June l, 1966 he married DeWanda (Prather) Gray of Smackover. They lived at Russellville then Danville where he was a MFA insurance Agent and active in the Jaycees. He and DeWanda were active members of the First Baptist Church and Tom served as a Deacon and teacher. This church presented him in 1967 a certificate of License to Preach the Gospel Ministry. For ten years He attended the Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association Seminary Extension Classes and earned a Diploma in Pastoral Ministries. SFC E7 Thomas Gray retired from The Arkansas Army National Guard serving 21 years with Detachment 1 Company A 212 Signal Battalion at Danville. Tom joined the Arkansas State Police, attended the Law Enforce Academy in 1972 at Camden. He was first stationed with Troop I in Harrison and lived with his family in Berryville. Later he joined Troop J in Clarksville and lived in Danville. He was in Highway Patrol and Driver’s License, retiring after 26 years of service. Tom has been a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge # 41 for over 50 years, currently serving as the Junior Warden. He is also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Member of the Shriners. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas “Jack” Marion Gray, Mother Viola LaVerne Gray Cook, and Brother, Robert Wayne Gray, He is survived by his wife of 56 years, DeWanda Prather Gray, sons Thomas Michael “Mike” Gray, Jr. (Brooke) of Springdale, Philip Telford Gray (Heidi) of Russellville, and daughter Dr. Janet Gail Gray Freeman (Emily) of Maumelle, Sisters Deborah Gray of Murfreesboro, and Kimberly Gay Cook of Arkadelphia. Grandchildren are Thomas Michael Gray, III and Abigail Ann Gray, both at UCA; Jaron Craig Condley (Bree) of Vermillion, South Dakota; Mason Parker Condley-Navy Vet at ATU; Garrett Samuel Gray-Army Vet at ATU; Jackson Cole Gray-Russellville H.S.-Boone Samuel Freeman, Maumelle Charter School. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Danville on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church of Danville from 9-10 with the service to follow. There will be a Graveside Service to follow at The Earl Ladd Cemetery with Arkansas State Police Honor Guard with Masonic Rites to follow. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home Danville.
